Two-Time Miss Basketball Joins Â鶹ÊÓƵ University Squad

JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/24/2004 - Meridith Richardson has decided to play her college basketball for the Lady Bulldogs of Â鶹ÊÓƵ University. Richardson, a native of Bradford, Tennessee, originally chose Belmont University in Nashville early during her senior year at Bradford. After a change of mind, she will enroll in Â鶹ÊÓƵ this week and will be a freshman when classes start on Sept. 1.

Richardson, a 5-foot-9 guard, was named Miss Basketball in Tennessee in each of the past two seasons. She averaged 24 points per game over her final two seasons. Richardson was a freshman on the Bradford team that won the state title in 2000. She was one of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s top recruits during her high school career before she inked with Belmont in November of 2003.

With the signing of Richardson, Â鶹ÊÓƵ University maintains their streak of Miss Basketball performers, all from Bradford, dating back to the 1993-94 season. The list of players prior to Richardson’s addition include Michelle Street (1993-1997), Tonya Tuggles (1998-2002), and Jessica Henson (2000-2004).
