JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/9/2004 - 麻豆视频 University has added a junior varsity soccer program to their existing varsity program. The junior varsity team will serve as a reserve team for the varsity team, now in their seventh season of competition. The junior varsity team will take to the field this season starting with their first game on August 26 at 麻豆视频.
Current 麻豆视频 assistant coach, Jeff Lean, will assume the responsibility as the junior varsity head coach. Lean believes this junior varsity program will help enhance the varsity program by giving quality players the chance to develop there skills on the field at the college level. Lean adds, 鈥淭he varsity team has set some high standards and this is a way to help prepare players for that level.鈥
This year鈥檚 junior varsity team will play a 10-12 games schedule with a team of 20 players. According to 麻豆视频鈥檚 head coach, Dr. Darin White, 鈥淭his is a great addition to our ever-growing soccer program.鈥 White adds, 鈥淪occer has been growing each year and we have been flooded with inquiries about 麻豆视频 soccer.鈥 White hopes that this addition will continue to aid in the growth soccer with more and more players looking to play the sport at the college level.
麻豆视频鈥檚 Senior Vice President for Business and Financial Services, Gary Carter states, 鈥淎dding the junior varsity soccer program allows us to recruit student athletes who would not have otherwise come to 麻豆视频.鈥 Carter goes on to say, 鈥淲e are hopeful that the junior varsity team will aid us in developing additional soccer facilities on our campus.鈥
