Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Volleyball Players Receive NAIA Honors

Jackson, Tenn. - 12/11/2001 - Two Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University volleyball players received NAIA All-American selections for their efforts in 2001. Senior Lauren Hayden was named a third team NAIA All-American and junior Andrea Darr was selected as a NAIA Honorable Mentioned All-American. These two outside hitters helped lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a 32-6 overall record and a runner-up finish in the NCCAA National Tournament.

Hayden, the NAIA’s career record holder for kills with 3,353, received this national honor for the third season. She finished first in the conference in defense with 5.20 digs per game and second in the in kills per game with a 5.22 per game average. Hayden also finished fourth in attack percentage (.319) and fifth in aces (.64/game). Hayden, from Belleville, Illinois, was named as the TranSouth Player of the Year and also was selected as the NCCAA Co-Player of the Year.

Darr, a native of Swansea, Illinois, led the conference attack percentage (.350) and finished fourth in aces per game (.65) and defense with 3.55 digs per game. She was named as an All-Conference performer, as well as, NCCAA All-National Tournament Team.
