Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Cross Country Adds Two Runners to the Men’s Squad

JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/14/2004 - Phillip Thompson, of Laconia, Tennessee, and Lane Turner of Saltillo, Mississippi have signed on with the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s cross country team. Both Thompson and Turner will enter Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this fall as freshmen.

, at 5-foot-7 and 125 lbs., ran both track and cross country for Fayette-Ware High School in Somerville, Tennessee. In 2003, he was the AAA track state champion in the 800-meter race. Also in 2003, Thompson was named a cross country All-State performer with a 4:34 mile.

, at 6-foot-0 and 165 lbs., also ran track and cross country at Saltillo High School in Mississippi. In cross country, he was named All-State in 2000, 2001, and 2003 with a 16:58 time during the 5K run. In 2000, Turner was named Rookie of the Year with a 4:50 mile. And in 2001 and 2002, he earned the Most Valuable Runner award at Saltillo.
