Bartlett Native Signs with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Baseball

JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/9/2004 - , from Bartlett, Tennessee, is transferring from Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis to join Coach Andy Rushing and the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs. Adams will start at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this fall as a junior. Adams rejoins fellow Southwest teammate and former Munford standout Charlie Ligon, a 6-foot-5 pitcher who signed with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ earlier this spring.

Adams, a 6-foot-6 210 lb. right-hander, will bring valuable experience, along with his intimidating size and velocity to the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ pitching staff. Adams signed with the University of Memphis as a freshman out of high school. He had Tommy John surgery in August of 2001 causing him to red-shirted during his first season with Memphis. Adams then posted a 1-0 record with a 3.65 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 12.1 innings in seven appearances in the spring of 2003. As a sophomore, he transferred to Southwest Tennessee Community College he posted an 8-3 record. Adams tallied 97 strikeouts in 91 innings pitched while walking just 39. His 97 strikeouts broke a 27-year old record held by former major league player, Clarlie Lee. He helped lead Southwest to the 2004 Tennessee Junior College State Championship and the 2004 Region VII Championship. He was named the state tournament MVP. Adams has also played two summers for the Dulan's college team.

Adams is a 2001 graduate of Bartlett High School where he was a two-sport athlete in baseball and basketball. He was a forward for Bartlett’s 2001 basketball state championship team.
