Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Hysmith Sets New School Record for Walks in a Career

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/30/2004 - , a native of Jackson, set a new Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University record for walks in a career. Hysmith, a senior on the Bulldog baseball team, broke the old record of 116 in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 6-4 win at Missouri Baptist College on Wednesday. The old record was held by Brandon Myhand who tallied 116 during his four-year career from 1995-1998. Hysmith, a former JCS standout, now has 118 in his four year career going into the final game of the year.

Hysmith, a 5-foot-10 160 lb. outfielder, has been a four-year starter for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. While at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, he was named an All-Conference performer for performance as a freshman. He currently shares the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ record for walks in a game with four. Hysmith is hitting .363 with a team high 12 double this season. He has tallied two homeruns, 29 RBI, 31 walks, and seven stolen bases. Hysmith has a career batting average .320 (226-705).

During his four years at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, the Bulldogs have won at least 30 games in each season, including 44 in 2002. The Bulldogs are a combined (143-84) since Hysmith’s freshman year of 2001. Hysmith was a part of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 2002 TranSouth regular season and tournament championship team. He played his high school baseball for Jackson Christian School where he was a three sport star in baseball, basketball, and football.
