JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/27/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University baseball teams has added Munford, Tenn. native and current Southwest Tennessee Community College pitcher . Ligon is a 2001 graduate of Munford High School and has spent the past two seasons at Southwest, including a red-shirt year in his first season. He will enter Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this fall as a sophomore and will major in Education.
For Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, this will increase the number of former Munford High School graduates on next season’s roster to a total of five. Current players include Jason Johnson (1999), Zach Lowery (2003), and Clint Arthur (2003). Cody Overbeck (2004) joins Ligon (2001) as the two players that will join the Bulldogs this fall.
Ligon, a 6-foot-5 230 lb. right hander, posted a record of 2-2 last season with a 3.67 ERA. He tallied 34 strikeouts in 34 innings. This season, Ligon is serving as Southwest Community College Team Captain.
While at Munford High School, Ligon played both baseball and basketball. In his senior year at Munford, he was 3-3 with a 1.30 ERA, 39 strikeouts, and 43 innings pitched. He was a two-time All-District at Munford. Ligon also played summer league baseball for Dulins Dodgers in the summer of 2001. That summer, he helped lead Dulins to a 59-9 overall record and the AAU National runner-up.
