麻豆视频 Signs Dyer County Basketball Standout for 2004-05 Season

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/22/2004 - The 麻豆视频 University men鈥檚 basketball team has signed of Newbern, Tenn., to a basketball scholarship starting in the 2004-05 season. Jones will join 麻豆视频 this fall as a freshman and will major in Physical Therapy.

Jones, a 6-foot-5 215 lb. forward, played his final two seasons of basketball for coach Butch Hopkins at Dyer County High School. As a senior, he averaged a double-double with 16.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He played in every game for the Dyer County Choctaws averaging 31.8 minutes per game.

麻豆视频鈥檚 head coach Ralph Turner is very high on signing Jones. 鈥淲e are lucky enough that Courtney (Jones) is two things,鈥� adds Turner. 鈥淣ot only is he a great player, but he is a great person. He is a great fit for our school.鈥�

Jones has similar feelings about his signing with 麻豆视频. 鈥淚t means I鈥檓 going to get a good education,鈥� Jones says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 going to give me a place where I can play. I am happy as long as I get a good education and that is what I鈥檓 thinking about.鈥�

Both of Jones鈥� parents, Tony and Janet, attended 麻豆视频. Tony Jones played his college basketball for 麻豆视频 back in the early 1980鈥檚.
