Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Abakwue Named NAIA All-American, Kee Named Scholar Athlete

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 3/31/2004 - , a senior guard for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs, was named an NAIA third team All-American. This honor for Abakwue comes on the heels of his first- team All-TranSouth Conference honor. Also for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, senior guard of Huntingdon, Tenn. was named an NAIA Scholar Athlete. These announcements came after the NAIA National Championship game in which the No. 1 seed Mountain State (W. Va.) defeated the defending champions Concordia (Calif.) 74-70.

Abakwue, a 5-11 senior guard from Cedar Hill, Texas, led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in scoring this season with 17.7 points per game. He shot an amazing 43% (134-314) from behind the arc. His 134 three pointers made ranks first in the TranSouth was good for second in the NAIA. He also ranks third in the conference in points per game and second in three-point percentage. Abakwue is Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s career three-point record holder as he has made 401 in this career, 115 more that the former record of 286. For Abakwue, this was his first All-American selection.

Kee, a 6-foot-3 senior from Huntingdon, Tenn., was named an NAIA Scholar Athlete. Kee has been with the Bulldogs for four seasons since coming to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as a freshman walk-on. He is majoring in Math and Physical Education and will graduate in May.
