Four Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Bulldogs Received Honors from the TranSouth

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/11/2004 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s basketball team was well represented in the . Senior Chima Abakwue and freshman Ben Frederick were named first team All-Conference, while Marcus Cooper and Pierry Valmeria joined Frederick on the All-Freshman team. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Abakwue finished second behind Cumberland’s Alonzo Evans for TranSouth Player of the Year.

, a 5-11 senior guard from Cedar Hill, Texas, led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in scoring this season with 17.9 points per game. He shot an amazing 43% (128-297) from behind the arc. His 128 three pointers made ranks first in the TranSouth, 35 more than the second place player. Abakwue’s 128 three’s made is also good for second in the NAIA. He also ranks third in the conference in points per game and second in three-point percentage. Abakwue is Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s career three-point record holder as he has made 395 in this career, 109 more that the former record of 286.

, a 6-foot-10 freshman center from Bartlett, Tennessee, was second on the team and seventh in the conference with 15.8 points per game. His 55% from the field ranks fourth in the TranSouth and his 74% from the free-throw line is good for fifth in the conference.

, a 5-foot-11 guard from Dalton, Georgia, has come off the bench as a freshman and tallied 6.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

, a 6-foot-8 center from Haiti, started exactly half of his 32 games as a freshman with the Bulldogs. He averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.

Also for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, four players were named to the . Only one other team had more that four players named (Lyon-6). Seniors Will Harris, Jonathan Kee, and Mike Simpson along with sophomore Matt Trammell made the list.
