JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/9/2004 - of 麻豆视频 University has set a new 麻豆视频 record for blocks in a career. To this point on the season, Bryant has 82 blocks which puts her at 286 for her career. Bryant, a 6-foot-2 senior forward, tops the old record of 281 career blocks held by former Lady Bulldog Kendra Burlew from 1992-95.
Bryant, a native of Jackson, played her high school basketball at Jackson-Central Merry High School where she led her team to a state championship as a senior in 1997. In her freshman season at 麻豆视频, she helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to their first NAIA National Championship. As a freshman at 麻豆视频, Bryant averaged 8.8 points per game. Bryant returned to 麻豆视频 after sitting out three years for the 2001-02 season. Her career season was her junior year when she averaged 13.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Thus far as a senior, Bryant is averaging 8.6 points and 5.3 rebounds. Her senior year has been her best for blocks as she is averaging 2.5 per game (82 blocks).
麻豆视频鈥檚 head coach Mark Campbell says of Bryant, 鈥淚t鈥檚 has been a great advantage for us to have Ginger on the floor. Her ability to block shots makes us much better defensively in the post.鈥 Bryant has played in all but one game (148 of 149 games) since joining 麻豆视频 as a freshman. In Bryant鈥檚 four years at 麻豆视频, the Lady Bulldogs are a collective 134-13 (.912).
