麻豆视频 Baseball Signs Lexington High School All-Star

Jackson, Tenn. - 11/13/2001 - Coach Andy Rushing added his first recruit for the 2003 season as Steven Sweat signed to play college baseball for the 麻豆视频 University Bulldogs. Sweat, a senior infielder and pitcher for Lexington, will finish his career at Lexington this season in hopes of making a return trip to the state championship in May under the leadership of Coach Jason Patterson.

Sweat has accumulated many honors while in high school. He was named All-Region, All-District in 2000 and 2001. Sweat also received the District MVP award in 2000. Last season at Lexington, Sweat had a batting average of .500 with 11 homeruns, 38 runs batted in, 24 stolen bases, and an on base percentage of .574. On the mound he was just as impressive with a 9-2 record, 101 strikeouts, and an earned run average of 1.27. Coach Rushing says, 鈥淪teven is a great student-athlete that will be able to make contributions early as he will help solidify our infield.鈥

The son of Steve and Rhonda Sweat, Steven has excelled in the classroom, as well as, on the field. Sweat is a member of the National Honor Society, American Achievement Academy, and Who鈥 Who among America High School students. He has also received the Student of the Month award and has been named to the Principals list each month.
