JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/29/2003 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University's Chima Abakwue was the star yet again for the Bulldogs as he tallied 23 first half points on his way to a 29 point night to help lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a 108-84 win over William Carey College. Abakwue was 5-of-11 from behind the arc, including 5-of-7 in the first half. In the game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 60% from the field and 35% (8-23) from behind the arc. However, it was their first half shooting that helped build the lead. In the first half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 67% from the field and 55% from three point land going 6-for-11.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ trailed William Carey by as many as six points early in the first half but rallied to lead by 12 at the break. In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ extend the lead with the help of a 18-8 run to start the second half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's biggest lead of 32 points came at he 7:17 mark when Bruno Martinessi layup gave the Bulldogs a 100-68 lead.
Ben Frederick for the Bulldogs added 21 points while Michael Palmer and Pierry Valmera each tallied 15 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 57-45 at the half.
For William Carey, Lional Turner led the way with 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting from three point land. Corey McKinley added 18 points, Braxton Robbins scored 12, and Marquez Moultrie scored 10 points.
