Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Runners Complete NAIA Nationals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - 11/22/2003 - Four runners from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University competed in the 2003 NAIA National Cross Country Championships. This marked the first time in school histroy that Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has boasted four national quailifiers, two from the women's team and two from the men's team. Janelle Royer, Jill Konkol, Chris Winter, and Cameron Groll each ran the nationals with Royer and Konkol each recording career best times in their race. One qualifier had been the most Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ had sent to the nationals in any seaosn prior to this year (Michelle Hardee 2001, and Janelle Royer 2002).

Royer, a native of Jackson, and Konkol, of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ City, finished the race 97th and 98th respectively. Royer's time was 19:27.9 and Konkol finished the 5K run in 19:28.0. Both times were career best for the 5K race. The women's race had 256 total competitors.

In the men's 8K race, Jackson native Chris Winter finished 176th overall with a time of 27:38.7. Cameron Groll, of Lexington, Tennessee, placed 211th with a time of 28:15.9. The race had 254 total competitors.
