Jackson, Tenn. - 11/15/2003 - Four other Lady Bulldogs Named to All-Conference Team
Gladys Wandera of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University has received the top honor in the TranSouth Conference by being named the TranSouth Player of the Year. In addition to player of the year, Wandera was named TranSouth first team All-Conference along with teammates Phylis Anyango and Lindsey Stahlberg. Lady Bulldogs being named second team All-Conference were Nicole Garber and Allison Shein.
Five Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ players were also named to the TranSouth Scholar Athlete team. Senior Crystal Abel, juniors Nicole Garber, Allison Shein, Phylis Anyango, and Gladys Wandera.
, a 6-foot-2 middle hitter from Kakamega, Kenya, was named as the conference player of the week five times, region player of the week three times, and NAIA National player of the Week twice during the season. Wandera, a junior for the Lady Bulldogs, leads Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in kills (711), kills per game (5.55), and attack percentage (.499). In the TranSouth, she ranks first in attack percentage while ranking second in kills and kills per game.
, also junior from Kenya, ranks second on Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's team in kills (436), kills per game (3.63), and attack percentage (.400). She ranks second in the TranSouth, just behind teammate Wandera, in attack percentage.
, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter from St. Louis, Missouri, ranks fifth in the TranSouth with a .320 attack percentage. On the season, the senior Stahlberg has 322 kills and averages 2.40 kills per game.
, a 5'7" junior from Columbus, Ind., was named the TranSouth Conference Setter of the Week three times and has earned the NAIA Region XI honor on two occasions. She leads Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in assists and with 1,270 for an average of 11.87 per game. Garber ranks second in the TranSouth in assists and assists per game.
, a 5-foot-7 junior from Lighthouse Point, Florida, is ranks 11th in the conference with 383 digs and a 3.02 digs per game average. She played most of the season as a defensive specialist.
