Jackson, Tenn. - 11/13/2003 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University's Gladys Wandera and Nicole Garber have earned the NAIA Region XI and TranSouth Conference Volleyball top honors for the second straight week. Wandera has been named the TranSouth Conference Player for the week for the fifth time and the NAIA Region XI Player of the Week for the third forth time. Garber earns her third conference setter of the week honor and twice has earned the region honor.
, a 6-foot-2 middle hitter from Kakamega, Kenya, averaged 7.45 kills and racked up a .603 attacking percentage as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ went 2-1 on the week. She also averaged 1.36 digs and 1.55 blocks per game. Wandera had 24 kills, four kills and three blocks in a three-game victory over Freed-Hardeman, then finished with 30 kills seven digs and six blocks in a four-game win over Martin Methodist. She finished the week with 28 kills, four digs and eight blocks in a four-game loss to Trevecca Nazarene.
, a 5'7" junior from Columbus, Ind., averaged 15.82 assists and 2.36 digs per game as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ went 2-1 last week. Garber handed out 50 assists in a three-game victory over Freed-Hardeman, then racked up a whopping 72 assists and 11 digs in a four-game win over Martin Methodist. She finished the week with 52 assists and nine digs in a four game loss to Trevecca Nazarene.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is currently 37-6 overall on the season and will begin play in the TranSouth Conference Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, Nov. 14. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished the No. 2 in the TranSouth regular season standings and will open the tournament versus Freed-Hardeman, a team Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ beat twice this season in straight sets each time.
