Cape Girardeau, Mo - 11/6/2003 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ University Lady Bulldogs stepped out of NAIA play for a exhibition against NCAA Div. I Southeast Missouri State University. Southeast Missouri topped the Lady Bulldogs 84-66.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ led 2-1 in the game on a lay-up by Jessica Henson following a steal. That was the only lead for Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Southeast Missouri State used the outside shot and athletic ability to build a 24-point lead in the first half. Southeast led 45-21 at the break an shot 50% from the field. Â鶹ÊÓƵ had 13 first half turnovers.

In the second half, Southest Missouri jumped out to a 30 point lead on back-to-back three pointers. And then six minutes into the second half, the Lady Bulldogs trailed by 32. However, from that point on, Â鶹ÊÓƵ started to create shots and shots started falling. Southeast Missouri continued to press as they had done the entire game. Â鶹ÊÓƵ's sophomore guard, LaTorya Fuller, began to take over and handle the press. She tallied a game high 22 points. From the 14 minute mark in the second half, Â鶹ÊÓƵ outscored Southeast Missouri 37-23 to cut the final deficit to 18 points, 84-66. Â鶹ÊÓƵ's late rally impressed many that watched, as the Lady Bulldogs were now able to score on a defense that had them stopped for much of the game.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ's head coach Mark Campbell said, "I think we were intimidated the first half." He adds, "We came out in the second half and dictated tempo and really played well." Â鶹ÊÓƵ was able to leave the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with a great deal of confidence about their ability to score on anybody. Coach Campbell also talked about the fact that Â鶹ÊÓƵ would not play a more athletic team than Southeast during this season.

In the game, Â鶹ÊÓƵ was led by Fuller with 22 points. Jessica Henson added 14, including 3-of-7 from three point land, while Molly York scored nine. For Southeast Missouri, Sami Jo Cotton scored 16 points, including 4-0f-5 from behind the arc. Chandra Brown tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Brown also tallied five blocks.
