Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Basketball Ranked In NAIA Preseason Polls

Jackson, Tenn. - 10/28/2003 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs both find themselves in the NAIA Top 25 Preseason polls released on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs are No. 3 and the Bulldogs come in at No. 18.

For the fourth straight season, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldogs are the No. 3 team. This season once again finds them behind No. 1 Oklahoma City and No. 2 Southern Nazarene. This sets up a showdown on Saturday, December 6 as the Lady Bulldogs will host, defending NAIA National Champions, Southern Nazarene in the Rotary Classic. In addition to No. 2 Southern Nazarene, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has a non-conference schedule that consists of games against No. 6 North Georgia, No. 9 Oklahoma Baptist, and No. 17 Campbellsville. No. 10 Freed-Hardeman and No. 18 Trevecca Nazarene join Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as the three TranSouth women's teams in the Top 25.

As for the men, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ starts their climb back into the nation's elite as the No. 18 team. Head coach Ralph Turner says, "It's not a bad spot considering last season." The Bulldogs finished the 2003 season with a 17-15 record and missed the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in six years. On the non-conference schedule for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this year are two games with No. 6 Georgetown and two games with No. 10 McKendree. Defending TranSouth champion, No. 8 Lee University, join Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as the only TranSouth teams in the Top 25. Cumerland University recieved votes at No. 36.
