Jackson, Tenn. - 10/21/2003 - On senior night at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ soccer field, the Bulldog of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University earned a 4-0 victory over Lyon College. This, their 10th win of the year, clinches a spot in the TranSouth Conference Tournament on November 4. In the TranSouth Conference, only the top 6 teams in the final standings are awarded a spot in the tournament. On the season, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 10-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the conference. Lyon falls to 8-8 overall and 2-3 in league play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored first on a goal by Redzi Stojiljkovic in the second minute of the game assisted by Fabio Buarque. For Stojiljkovic, this was his second game winning goal of the season. Buarque added a goal in the 20th minute to put Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ up 2-0. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by that same score of 2-0 at halftime. In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ added a goal each from Marko Pavlovic and Stephen Goodin. Pablo Paredes recorded the assists on Goodin's goal.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outshot Lyon 13-1 in the game. Robert Stinson, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's sophomore goalie, recored his fifth shut-out of the season. He tallied one save on the one shot he faced. Brent Hugg for Lyon recorded four saves on the night.
The Bulldogs have completed their conference schedule, however, several teams still have games to play in the league. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ could finish as the fifth or sixth seed in the TranSouth Conference Tournament.
