Jackson, Tenn. - 9/30/2003 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University volleyball standout, , has been named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week. This honor comes after Wandera was named the TranSouth, NAIA Region XI, and NAIA National Player of the Week last week. Wandera helped lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a 2-0 week, which improved the Lady Bulldogs’ record to 17-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
Wandera, a 6-2 junior middle hitter, led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a pair of three-game TranSouth victories by averaging 5.8 kills, 2.6 digs and 1.6 blocks per game, and racking up a .472 hitting percentage during the week. In a victory at Martin Methodist, Wandera had 19 kills, seven digs, and four blocks. While playing in just two games Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's sweep of Cumberland, Wandera had 10 kills, six digs, and four blocks. She also had a service ace in each match.
On the season, Wandera leads Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 292 kills, 38 service aces, and 84 total blocks. In the TranSouth, she leads with a .466 attacking percentage and ranks second with 4.71 kills per game.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (3-0) is currently sits atop the TranSouth along with Lee University (6-0). The Lady Bulldogs will have their opportunity to take over the top spot by themselves with two wins this week. On Tuesday, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ travels to Batesville, Arkansas to play Lyon College (10-3/2-2). On Saturday, Oct. 4, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will travel to Cleveland, Tennessee to battle No. 13 Lee University (20-5/6-0) in the first of two meetings this season.
