Jackson, Tenn. - 9/15/2003 - The TranSouth Conference named Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University’s as the TranSouth Conference Soccer Player of the Week. Pereira helped lead Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to a perfect 3-0 week and a Bulldog Classic Championship.
Pereira, a 6-foot-2 180 lb. freshman, has made an instant impact for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to this point in 2003. He currently leads Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with 13 goals and 27 total points in eight games. Pereira has played in all eight of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s games and has scored at least one goal in seven of the eight, including five straight games with a goal. This past week, he tallied five goals and one assist to help improve the Bulldogs to an overall record of 6-1-1. He tallied a hat trick in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 5-0 win over Asbury and then added a goal in the 4-0 win over Campbellsville University to clinch the Bulldog Classic Championship and to earn a spot on the all-tournament team. Pereira also added one goal and one assist in the 3-2 win over Bethel College earlier in the week. Pereira is the fastest Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ player to 13 goals in school history, doing so in just eight games. He is also just 11 goals away from the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ record of 24 goals in a season.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 6-1-1 on the year and will travel to Lambuth on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. to play for the Fifth Annual Jackson Cup. The Jackson Cup series is tied at 2-2 with each game being a 1-0 score with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ winning last season. The overall series between Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Lambuth has the Eagles leading 3-2.
