Fronabarger Receives AFLAC Assistant Coach of the Year Honor

Jackson, Tenn. - 8/22/2003 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University baseball assistant and Huntingdon, Tennessee native, Brent Fronabarger, has been named as an AFLAC Assistant Coach of the Year. AFLAC is the sponsor of the award determined by Scholastic’s Coach & Athletic Director magazine. A 10-member panel selects 500 winners from a possible 350,000 assistant coaches on the high school and college levels across the nation.

Fronabarger is now in his seventh season as assistant coach for the Bulldogs. Fronabarger spent the 1996 season at Huntingdon High School where he helped coach the Mustangs in both football and baseball. Fronabarger, a 1996 graduate of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University, coaches the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ pitchers and has continued the Bulldog tradition of good pitching, not only in the conference but nation wide.

In addition to his assistant coaching duties, Fronabarger is also in charge of maintaining of all Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outdoor fields, including baseball, softball, and soccer. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has among the top playing surfaces around thanks in a large part to the care and time spent by Fronabarger on each field.

As a player for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Bulldogs (1993-1996), Fronabarger was named the 1995 Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He also holds Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ records for Most Victories in a Season (13), Most Victories in a Career (33), Most Strikeouts in a Career (306), and Most Innings in a Season (117.2). In 1995, Fronabarger led the team with the lowest earned run average (1.97) and had an incredible 11-2 record. He is a 1993 graduate of Huntingdon High School where he played baseball and football.

Fronabarger received a Bachelor of Science in physical education and health from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in 1995 and received a Master of Education degree from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in 1998. He is married to the former Sandy Cothran.
