No. 12 麻豆视频 softball opens national tournament with 6-0 win

GULF SHORES, Ala. - 5/17/2012 - The No. 12 麻豆视频 University softball team posted a 6-0 win over Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College Thursday in the first day of the NAIA Softball National Championships.

麻豆视频 is playing in Pool E and is 1-0 after the first day. 麻豆视频 will face Indiana-Southeast Friday at 6:00 p.m. and will close out pool play Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. game versus Lubbock Christian (Texas). The pool winner will advance to the eight-team double-elimination tournament starting Monday.

麻豆视频 (46-10) earned the win behind the pitching of junior Huntingdon native, Brooke Thomas (24-6). Thomas tossed 6.2 innings, allowing no runs on two hits with six strikeouts. Kelly Robey pitched to and struck out the final batter of the game.

Katie Davis of 麻豆视频 homered to lead off the second inning and put 麻豆视频 up 1-0. Shelby Lamb homered in the third as 麻豆视频 jumped out to a 3-0 lead. 麻豆视频 scored three more times in the fifth to seal the victory.
