Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Sims, Grimm recognized at Jackson Madison County Sports Hall of Fame

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/20/2012 - and were recognized Thursday, April 19 during the 2012 Jackson Madison Country Sports Hall of Fame as the male and female athletes of the year from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University. Each year, the hall of fame recognizes two athletes from each high school and college in Madison County.

Sims has been a four-year starter for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s volleyball team. She is a four-time TranSouth All-Conference player and has been named TranSouth Scholar Athlete twice. Sims helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ win the 2008 TranSouth Tournament Title and the 2010 TranSouth Regular Season Title. She was a part of the 2008 team that advanced to the NAIA National Championships Opening Round. For her career, Sims recorded 1,116 kills, becoming only the sixth member of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 1,000 kill club. She averaged 2.12 kills per game in her career. Sims also set a Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ record for blocks in a career with 568 total blocks. She averaged 1.1 blocks per game, while also recording 38 career aces and 336 career digs. Sims was named the TranSouth Player of the Week twice in her career. She is a native of Trussville, Ala. and is the daughter of Eddie and Linda Sims of Trussville. Sims plans to move back to Alabama after graduation and get a nursing job at a hospital in Birmingham.

Grimm has been a four-year starter for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University baseball team. During his four years, Grimm has been named TranSouth All-Conference once, TranSouth Gold Glove twice, NAIA Scholar Athlete once and TranSouth Scholar Athlete three times. Grimm has been a part of two TranSouth Tournament Championship teams and has played in three NAIA National Tournament Opening Rounds. For his career, Grimm has a .302 batting average with 174 hits, 27 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 68 RBI, 62 walks, and 39 stolen bases. Grimm is the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ career assists record holder with a current total of over 500 assists. Grimm is a majoring in Political Science and will graduate in May. Grimm was also a selected as the University School of Jackson’s Outstanding Male Athlete for the Hall of Fame ceremonies back in 2008. He is the son of Rich and Linda Grimm of Jackson, Tenn.
