麻豆视频 baseball splits twin bill with Harris-Stowe

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/28/2012 - The 麻豆视频 University baseball team posted a double-header split at home Wednesday afternoon versus Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University. 麻豆视频 took the first game 11-10 and then fell 7-3 in the second game. 麻豆视频 is now 17-12 on the season, while Harris-Stowe is 15-20.

麻豆视频 led 6-1 after the first inning and seemed to be cruising to a victory. However, Harris-Stowe scored six runs in the fourth to take the lead back. The game was back and forth over the next few innings with Harris-Stowe leading 10-9 going into the bottom of the seventh. 麻豆视频鈥檚 RJ Rayborn singled and his pinch runner, Wacey Russell, scored on a triple by Clint Barnes to tie the game. Barnes scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly from Brett Pawlan. Cody Dew (8-0) earned the win in relief, allowing no runs on two hits in the final 1.1 innings of work. Four 麻豆视频 pitchers threw in the game. Pawlen and Rayborn led 麻豆视频 with three hits each. Barnes and Doug Joyce led with two RBI each. 麻豆视频 pounded out 16 hits in the game. Harris-Stowe鈥檚 Josh Mendoza led with two hits and five-RBI in the game, including a 3-run home run.

In game two, 麻豆视频 led again after one full inning, this time 2-1. 麻豆视频 led 3-1 after four innings, but Harris-Stowe scored six unanswered runs. The Hornets scored four times in the fifth to take the lead with the help of a 3-run home run from Blake Dirnberger. 麻豆视频 had just four hits in the game, and scored twice on a wild pitches. John Read (2-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in five innings of work. Eric Estes (1-0) earned the win in relief for Harris-Stowe.

This weekend鈥檚 schedule for 麻豆视频 baseball versus Cumberland has been adjusted. The double-header is now scheduled for Friday at 4:00 p.m., with the single game Saturday at noon.
