KANSAS CITY. Mo. - 3/20/2012 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University freshman pitcher has been named the NAIA Softball National Pitcher of the Week. This award follows her TranSouth Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March, 18, 2012.
This marks the second straight week for a Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ softball pitcher to earn this honor. Brook Thomas was choses as the NAIA's top pitcher last week. Robey has now also won two conference pitcher of the week awards this season.
Robey, a 5-10 freshman from New Madrid, Missouri, went 3-0 on the week including a win over No. 6 Belhaven, recording 28 strikeouts in 20.1 innings pitched. In the TranSouth shutout win over FHU, she struck out the side three times in seven innings as a part of her 13 K's. In the win over Spring Hill, she entered the game in relief after Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was down 3-0 and kept Spring Hill off the board for the final 5.1 innings of work.
Robey is 11-1 on the season with a 1.42 ERA.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, ranked No. 11 in the latest NAIA poll, sits atop the TranSouth standings with a perfect 10-0 league mark and is 24-5 on the season.
