麻豆视频 women鈥檚 basketball playing in 13th national semifinal

FRANKFORT, Ky. - 3/19/2012 - The 麻豆视频 University women鈥檚 basketball team is set for their appearance in the 2012 NAIA DI Women鈥檚 Basketball National Semifinals Monday night, March 19. No. 1 seed 麻豆视频 will face No. 5 seed Georgetown (Ky.) at 7:00 p.m. central time at the Frankfort Convention Center.

麻豆视频 (34-2) brings their 18-game winning streak into the semifinals.

麻豆视频 has been to an NAIA record 23 national tournaments. In those 23 trips, 麻豆视频 has now advanced to the semifinals 13 times. This season marks their eighth straight semifinal appearance. In their previous 12 appearances, 麻豆视频 is 8-4 in semifinal games, including three straight semifinal wins.

NOTES:
麻豆视频 University finished No. 2 in the final regular season poll of 2012. In doing so, 麻豆视频 earned one of the four No. 1 seeds in the national tournament, and the second overall seed. For the first time in 22 years, 麻豆视频 has traveled away from Jackson, Tenn. to play in the NAIA National Tournament. The last time 麻豆视频 traveled out of town for a national tournament was 1989 (Kansas City, Mo.). Jackson, Tenn. played host to the NAIA DI women鈥檚 tournament from 1990 through 2011.

麻豆视频 has been to an NAIA record 23 total tournament, and an NAIA record 21 straight tournaments. 麻豆视频 also holds the NAIA record for most tournament wins with 66.

麻豆视频 posted a first round victory over the 8-seed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) 63-50. With the win, 麻豆视频 improved to 22-1 all time first round games.

麻豆视频 earned a 58-43 win over Xavier (La.) in the second round. 麻豆视频 held Xavier to 20 points below their average on the season of 63 points per game.

Saturday night in the quarterfinals, 麻豆视频 defeated Biola (Calif.) 74-52 in their largest margin of victory in the tournament. This win put 麻豆视频 in their eighth straight NAIA Semifinal and 13th appearance in the 23 years of national tournament play.

麻豆视频 is coming off a second straight TranSouth Tournament Title. It was their fifth in the last six games and 12th in the 16-year history of the TranSouth.

Senior guard Lavanda Ross has passed 1,900 points for her career. Ross currently has at 1,982 career points. She is just 18 points shy of 2,000 for her career.

On the season, no opponent has reached the 70-point mark in scoring. 麻豆视频 has allowed 69 points twice. 麻豆视频 has held their opponents to less than 50 points 18 times on the season. 麻豆视频 has a 12-2 record versus teams in the national tournament field this season, including tournament play.
