Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men’s golf places 11th in Grover Page Classic

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/13/2012 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s golf team finished in 11th place in the Grover Page Golf Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee-Martin at the Jackson Country Club. This was the first tournament of the spring for the two-time defending TranSouth Champion Bulldogs.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as a team shot 946 for the three day event. UT Martin won the event with a 3-day total of 881. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved each round after a 322 in the first round. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ posted a 313 in round two Monday, followed by a 311 in round three Tuesday.

Brett Barry, a junior from Jackson, led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and finished in a tie for seventh place in the event. The former JCS standout shot a 3-day total of 220 (77-74-69) for a 4-over par tournament. His 69 fired Tuesday in the final round was the best of the round, and second best round of the tournament.

The other Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ golfers finished as follows. Kyle Long finished T40 (234), Jesper Swedenborg finished T45 (236), Ben Waits finished T50 (239), Andrew Knight finished T64 (246), and Stephen Coffelt did not finish.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the Trevecca Nazarene Spring Invitational, March 26 in Old Hickory, Tenn.
