Former Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Catcher Signs with Independent team

Jackson, Tenn. - 6/27/2003 - has signed to play professional baseball with an Independent team. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's catcher last season, Cook will play for the Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks in Missouri.

Cook started for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in each of the past four seasons. Early in his career, he was the Bulldog first baseman and designated hitter. As a junior and senior, Cook earned the starting roll as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's everyday catcher. While at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Cook tallied some outstanding numbers with a .343 (256-746) career batting average, 76 doubles, 36 homeruns, and 180 RBI. Cook holds Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's career record for double with 76. He also has tied records at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ including hits in a game (6), homeruns in a game (3), and games played in a season (64). Cook came to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in the fall of 2001 after winning a state championship with the University School of Jackson.

The ' season is already underway. They are 21-25 overall and play in the Central Baseball league that covers Missouri, Texas, and Louisiana. The Ducks' season will close out on August 23 at home versus Alexandria.
