JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/4/2012 - The No. 3 麻豆视频 University women鈥檚 basketball topped Martin Methodist College 82-69. 麻豆视频 improved to 22-2 on the season and 9-1 in league play. Martin Methodist dropped to 15-8 overall and 4-5 in the TranSouth.
麻豆视频 keeps pace atop the TranSouth standings in a tie for first with Freed-Hardeman. This win was the sixth straight overall for 麻豆视频 and the 35th straight home victory.
麻豆视频 took charge early as they jumped out to a quick 9-1 lead. 麻豆视频 keep pushing and extended their lead to as many as 24 points in the first half. 麻豆视频 held their largest lead of the half at 42-18, before taking a 45-23 lead into the locker room. 麻豆视频 shot 43 percent in the first half and made 6-of-17 three pointers.
In the second half, 麻豆视频 extended their lead to as many as 25 points and with four minutes left in the game, 麻豆视频 led by 22 points, 79-57. Over the final four minutes, Martin Methodist outscored 麻豆视频 12-3. Ten of Martin Methodist鈥檚 final 12 points came at the free throw line as they cut the final score down to 82-69.
麻豆视频 was led by Mildred Olumasi with 18 points and nine rebounds. Shelby Ashcraft added 15 points and Amy Philamlee scored 11 points. 麻豆视频 shot 41 percent from the field, 38 percent (11-29) from behind the arc, and 73 percent (19-26) from the free throw line.
Martin Methodist was led by Vee Young with a game-high 33 points. Young was 16-of-20 from the free throw line. Micah Anderson added 11 points for the RedHawks. The RedHawks shot 32 percent from the field, 18 percent (3-17) from long range, and 77 percent (30-39) from the free throw line.
