麻豆视频 men come up short in 73-69 loss at No. 8 Martin Methodist

PULASKI, Tenn. - 1/7/2012 - 麻豆视频 University men鈥檚 basketball fell in yet another close contest, this time on the road to No. 8 Martin Methodist College 73-69. 麻豆视频 dropped to 8-7 on the season and 1-1 in the TranSouth. Martin Methodist improved to 11-3 overall and 1-0 in league play.

Of 麻豆视频鈥檚 seven losses on the season, five have been by five points or less. The other two were by nine points and 11 points.

Martin Methodist jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead and seemed to be in control early. However, 麻豆视频 rallied with a 9-0 run to go up 11-7 with 14:45 left in the half. Martin answered with an 11-0 run to go up by seven points with 11:55 left in the half. Then it was 麻豆视频鈥檚 turn again. The Bulldogs responded with a 14-0 run to lead 25-18 with 9:15 left in the half. 麻豆视频 held their lead and went into the locker room leading 40-37.

In the second half, Martin Methodist took the lead and pushed their advantage out to as many as 13 points twice. The latest time was 67-54 with 5:10 left. 麻豆视频 made one final run and with 1:39 left in the game, a three pointer from Antoine Hall had pulled the Bulldogs to within two points, 69-67. Down by two with 17 seconds left, 麻豆视频 had a three pointer partially block with Martin Methodist regaining possession on a jump ball. Ree McCrory scored four of his game-high 28 points in the final minute to help preserve the win for the RedHawks.

麻豆视频 was led by Antoine Hall with 17 points, including 11 points in the first half. Leventrice Gray added 12 points, while Anthony Freeman, Jr. pulled down 10 rebounds. 麻豆视频 shot 42 percent from the field, 23 percent (6-26) from long range, and just 45 percent (9-20) from the free throw line.

Martin Methodist was led by McCrory鈥檚 28 points. Reigning TranSouth Player of the Year James Justin recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Laquantis Stewart scored 10 points. Martin Methodist shot 40 percent from the field, 23 percent (6-26) from long range, and 54 percent (7-13) from the free throw line.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a home conference game versus Lyon (Ark.) Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
