JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/21/2011 - The No. 22 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s basketball ended a four-game losing streak with a 129-64 win over Central Baptist (Ark.) College Monday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 3-4 on the season, while Central Baptist dropped to 2-8.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ won the season opener at Central Baptist Oct. 31 99-67 to sweep the season series.
Seven players for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored in double figures, while 10 of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 11 players scored in the game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Skyler Vaden with 20 points. Dani Marti scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Antoine Hall scored 18 points, Anthony Freeman, Jr. scored 16 points, David Lane and Pedro Faller added 14 points each, while Laventrice Gray scored 12 points.
The Bulldogs shot 64 percent from the field in the game, 52 percent (14-27) from 3-point range and 68 percent (17-25) from the free throw line.
Central Baptist managed just 36 percent from the field, 29 percent (6-21) from long range, and 57 percent (8-14) from the free throw line. The Mustangs were led by Gavin McDaniel with 17 points and Tommy Williams with 16 points.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ trailed 8-7 early in the first half, but outscored the Mustangs 59-18 over a 16 minute stretch in the first half to lead by 40 points, 66-26. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ held a 66-31 lead at the half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by as many as 67 points in the game, before taking the 129-64 final.
