Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women’s soccer falls in conference championship match

PULASKI, Tenn. - 11/11/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s soccer team lost 2-0 at No. 6 Martin Methodist College in the championship match of the 2011 TranSouth Conference Tournament. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ ends their season at 12-3-2, while Martin Methodist improved to 13-1-2 overall.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Martin Methodist played to a 2-2 tie in the regular season and both finished as Co-Champions of the regular season with 5-0-1 records. It was the first championship in the short history (2005 was inaugural season) of the program.

Martin Methodist scored in the 14th minute of play to go up 1-0. The RedHawks outshot Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 6-1 in the first half. The game remained 1-0 in favor of the home team when the RedHawks added unneeded insurance with a goal in the 70th minute. Martin Methodist recorded goals from Nicole O’Donnell and Mor Efraim. Linnea Sahlin recorded the assist on Efraim’s goal.

Emily Warren for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ allowed the two goals with two saves in the match. Hanit Schwarz recorded one save in the match. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was outshot 10-2 in the match, including 4-1 in shots on goal.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ set new program records this season including winning percentage (.765) and goals allowed (15).
