PULASKI, Tenn. - 11/8/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University volleyball won their second elimination match of the day in the 2011 TranSouth Volleyball Championships with a 3-2 (24-26, 25-20, 13-25, 25-19, 15-10) victory over Martin Methodist College. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 15-20 overall, while Martin Methodist ends their season at 15-25.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ rallied from down 1-0 and 2-1 to get the victory. After Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ lost the third set 25-13, Martin Methodist seemed to hold all the momentum playing at home and leading 2-1. However, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ responded with 25-19 and 15-10 victories to stay alive and play on the final day.
Third seeded Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will face second-seeded Freed-Hardeman University at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning in the losers bracket final. The winner will need to defeat top-seeded Bethel University twice to claim the conference title.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Anna Sims with 18 kills, while Savannah Hughes added 15 kills. Emmie Moroski dished out 46 assists, Lydia Wright led with five aces and 20 digs. Sims also led with five blocks.
Martin Methodist was led by Ya Zhao with 22 kills, Paula Sioto with 44 assists, Ann-Katherin Keuhorn with three aces, Precious Sanders with 20 digs, and Ulirike Gebhardt with four blocks.
