LEBANON, Tenn. - 10/25/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s soccer team kept their hopes of at least a share of the regular season championship alive with a road 1-0 win at Cumberland University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 9-2-2 on the season and 4-0-1 in the TranSouth. Cumberland dropped to 9-6-0 overall and 0-5 in league play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also remained in the NAIA rankings released today in the receiving votes section.
The match’s lone goal came late in the first half. Terilyn Wassell scored on an assist from Christina Reardon with just 41 seconds left in the first half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outshot Cumberland 9-4 in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ managed 10 shots to just three from Cumberland, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 7-3 in shots on goal.
The two-time reigning TranSouth Defensive Player of the Week, Emily Warren, posted her third straight shutout and seventh on the season. She recorded two saves in the match. Elizabeth Surdam recorded six saves in the loss.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be their senior night game Friday, Oct. 28 versus Trevecca Nazarene University at 5:00 p.m.
