ST. LOUIS, Mo. - 10/24/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University cross country teams posted high finishes in the St. Louis Fall Cross Country Classic held at Central Fields in Forest Park. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women finished second out of 13 teams, while the men posted a third place finish out of 12 teams.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s women ran the 5K time 20:03, behind NAIA No. 5 Friends (Kan.) to took first place. Allison Martin of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was the top Lady Bulldog finisher in fifth place (19:02). Audrey Hazlehurst finished seventh (19:20), Lilli Harmon finished 16th (20:13), Whitney Sweet finished 29th (20:44), Hannah Clardy finished 31st (20:54), Carissa Wilson finished 45th (21:55) and Ashley Stewart finished 48th (22:07).
On the men’s side, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ posted a team time of 27:32 in the 8K event, which was behind NAIA No. 5 Friends (Kan.) and an unattached group. Alex Bett was the top Bulldog finisher in fourth place (25:53). Zach Covington finished 12th (26:58), Drake Ott finished 27th (28:02), Joel Wellum finished 32nd (28:20), Lucas Peiser finished 35th (28:27), Logan Smith finished 39th (28:40) and Caleb Creel finished 50th (29:52).
This same course will host the NAIA Qualifying Event Nov. 5 to determine who advances to the NAIA National Cross Country Championships from the TranSouth, American MidEast and American MidWest Conferences.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the TranSouth Cross Country meet Saturday, October 29 at 9:00 a.m. on the campus of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University.
