Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men’s soccer falls to No. 11 Bethel 4-2

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/18/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s soccer team fell at home Tuesday to NAIA No. 11 Bethel University 4-2 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ dropped to 4-8-1 on the season and 2-3 in the TranSouth. Bethel improved 9-1-2 overall and 5-0 in league play.

Bethel scored three goals in the first half to take control of the match and held that 3-0 lead at the break. Just 10 minutes into the match, Bethel’s Guilherme Karaoglan struck to give the Wildcats the early lead. Karaoglan’s second goal of the match put his team up 2-0 in the 29th minute. Bethel struck again in the 36th minute with the game-winning goal from Juan Garzon to take the 3-0 first half lead.

In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ got on the board with a goal from Guilherme Reis in the 58th minute of play. Bethel answered with a goal from Akiel Belfom in the 72nd minute, before Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ added a final goal from Krister Andreassen in the 89th minute of play.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was outshot in the match 18-10, including 9-6 in shots on goal. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ goalie James Landham recorded five saves in the loss, while Chaz Dachenhaus had four saves in the win.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a non-conference home match Saturday at 3:00 p.m. versus Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.).
