HENDERSON, Tenn. - 10/4/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s soccer team earned a 2-0 shutout victory at Freed-Hardeman University Tuesday night. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 6-2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the TranSouth. Freed-Hardeman dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored first with a goal late in the first half. Eliza Clark found the back of the net on the assists from Sara Weir and Alex Taylor three minutes left to play in the half. That 1-0 lead remained until Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was given a second goal on an own goal from Freed-Hardeman in the 59th minute of play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outshot Freed-Hardeman 16-7 in the match, including 4-2 in shot on goal. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ goalie Emily Warren earned the shutout victory with two saves in her 90 minutes of work. Abbie Adkins of FHU tallied three saves and allowed both goals in her night of work.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a tough road contest at No. 6 Martin Methodist on Tuesday, October 11 at 5:00 p.m.
