MURRAY, Ky. - 10/4/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s golf team posted a 10th place finish in the Murray State Invitational. The two day, three round event was played at Miller Golf Club in Murray. The course played to a par 71 at 6,601 yards.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Brett Barry finished the event tied for third with one other golfer. Barry shot a three round total of 209 (4-under) and was just four shots off the medalist, Patrick Newcomb (205) of Murray State. Barry’s first round 69 put him in fifth place after round one. He fired a tournament-low 64 in the second round to jump into sole possession of the lead. He shot a 76 in the final round on Tuesday to drop back to third place.
The other Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ golfers rebounded after a slow start. The team was in 12th place after the first round of 304, then moved up to 10th in the second round with a 290 and remained in 10th with a final round 297.
Ben Waits finished 49th (227), Jesper Swedenborg finished T56 (231), David Hopper finished T61st (232) and Andrew Knight finished T67 (237).
There were 13 teams and 74 total golfers in the event.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be another NCAA DI event as the Bulldogs play in the UT Martin Skyhawk Invitational at the Paris Landing Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday, October 10-11.
