JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/23/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s soccer team lost Friday night 1-0 in double overtime to Davenport (Mich.) University at Smith Memorial Soccer Complex. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ dropped to 5-2-1 on the season, while Davenport improved to 7-3 overall.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ had had won four straight matches, and had not lost in five matches dating back to a tie on September 3.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outshot Davenport 2-0 in the first half, but could not break through the Davenport defense. In the second half, both teams managed three shots each, but still no goals as the two squads enter the first overtime. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ again outshot Davenport, this time 3-0 in the first overtime. Then with the score still at 0-0, Davenport scored on their second shot of the second overtime to earn the win. Abbie Prince recorded the game-winner.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outshot Davenport 9-5 in the match, with both teams equaling out at four shots on goal apiece. Emily Warren for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ recorded three saves, while Catherine Howard had three saves in the shutout victory.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a road conference game Tuesday, October 4 at Freed-Hardeman in Henderson, Tenn.
