JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/22/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to knock off Trevecca Nazarene University Thursday at Fred DeLay Gymnasium. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 7-7 on the season and 3-2 in the TranSouth. Trevecca Nazarene dropped to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in league play.
The first two sets between Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Trevecca Nazarene were closely played with each team taking a set. The third set started with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ getting off to a quick 4-1 lead. However, Trevecca Nazarene came back and took control of the third set, winning 25-15. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ bounced back again from a one set deficit to take the fourth set 25-21.
This time, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was able to maintain the momentum as they started the fifth set with eight straight points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by eight points again at 10-2 before extending to the match clinching victory, 15-5.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Kami Dickerson with 14 kills. Savannah Hughes and Anna Sims added 13 kills, while Abbey Wainwright tallied 12 kills. Emmie Moroski recorded 41 assists, Lauren Sprouse led with 10 digs, while Shelby Swink led with five blocks. Jami Humphreys, Lydia Wright, Casie Logan and Moroski led with two aces each.
Trevecca Nazarene was led by Brittany Eller with 15 kills and Jenna Robertson with 11 kills. Hailey Wiggins dished out 42 assists, while Haley White and Kristen Johnson led with 13 digs each. Jenna Robertson and Johnson led with four blocks each.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will have a week off before playing next on Thursday, September 29 at home versus Colorado College at 6:00 p.m.
