Rally comes up short as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ volleyball falls at Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - 9/17/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University volleyball team dropped a match 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 18-25, 25-13) at Christian Brothers University Saturday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ dropped to 6-6 overall, while Christian Brothers improved to 10-2 on the season.

After a very closely played first set in which Christian Brothers edged Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 25-21, the Lady Bulldog fell behind quickly in the second set. Down 2-0, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ stormed back in the third set to pull to within one with a 25-18 set. However, despite Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scoring the first two points in the fourth set, Christian Brothers scored 10 straight points to lead 10-2 and cruised to the clinching 25-13 win.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Savannah Hughes with 12 kills and Abbey Wainwright with 10 kills. Emmie Moroski dished out 37 assists, while six different Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ players recorded one aces each. Shelby Swink and Anna Sims led with three blocks each.

Christian Brothers was led by Hannah Kirtz with 14 kills, Hailey Gillis with 11 kills and Kelly Nolan with 10 kills. Kelsey Miles recorded 40 assists, Kurtz led with four aces and Lizzie McClean led with four blocks.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a road conference match at Bethel, Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7:00 p.m.
