Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women’s soccer wins second straight

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/12/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University women’s soccer team posted their second straight victory with a 4-1 win at Missouri Baptist University Saturday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is now 3-1-1 on the season, while Missouri Baptist dropped to 0-5.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Ashlie Watson took care of putting Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ on top early as she recorded goals in the 24th and 37th minutes of play. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ held that 2-0 lead at the half. In the second half, Eboni Murphy added a goal in the 51st minute, followed by a goal from Whitney Kramer just seven minutes later. Kelsey Gilbert and Emily Crane recorded assists for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

Missouri Baptist spoiled the shutout with a goal from Courtney Young, assisted by Lauren Clinton in the 72nd minute of play.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out shot Missouri Baptist 36-6 in the match, including 14-4 in shots on goal. Emily Warren recorded three saves, while Spartan goalie Samantha Schulze recorded 10 saves.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be their home opening and TranSouth Conference opener on Friday, September 16 versus Lyon (Ark.) at 5:00 p.m.
