JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/6/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University men’s and women’s cross country teams posted strong showings in the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic on Saturday. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women finished tenth out of 25 teams, while the men finished 12th out of 22 teams. (women’s results | men’s results)
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s women finished 10th with a 5K time of 1:42:26 and was the second highest NAIA team. Ole Miss was first place with a time of 1:32:57. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Allison Martin in 40th place with a time of 19:54. Audrey Hazlehurst was 44th (19:58), Whitney Sweet was 63rd (20:22), Lilli Harmon was 79th (20:39), Carissa Wilson was 103rd (21:30), Ashlee Stewart was 107th (21:34) and Hannah Clardy was 114 (21:41).
The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men ran the four mile course in 1:51:19 to put them 12th in the mostly NCAA field. Western Kentucky placed first with a time of 1:42:26. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was the second highest finishing NAIA team. Alex Bett led the way for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with a 35th place finish and a time of 21:27. Zach Covington was 45th (21:40), Lucas Peiser was 73rd (22:12), Joel Wellum was 90th (22:37), Drake Ott was 119th (23:20), Logan Smith was 121st (23:23) and Caleb Creel was 123rd (23:26).
