Â鶹ÊÓƵ Soccer Advances to TranSouth Championship Game

Pulaski, Tenn. - 10/30/2001 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ soccer program captured its first ever TranSouth Tournament victory as they defeated the No. 1 seed, Martin Methodist College, 2-1 in double overtime. As the No. 4 seed, Â鶹ÊÓƵ will travel to No. 2 Berry College for the championship game on Friday. Earlier in the day, Berry defeated Lee University 4-0 to earn their spot in the championship game.

The game was tied 0-0 at halftime before Martin Methodist struck first on a breakaway early in the second half. Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Kolo Goshi came off the bench and with seven minutes remaining, scored and unassisted goal to even the score. The game remained tied at 1-1 until just under five minutes remaining in the second overtime. Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Matt Gladdle assisted Daniel Banks for the sudden death, game winning goal. Â鶹ÊÓƵ was outshot in the game 12-9 but would ride the great effort by their junior goalkeeper, Jeff Lean as he tallied 10 saves on the day. Head coach Dr. Darin White stated, "Our guys play great today. We've played some great games this season, but came up short on the scoreboard. It's nice to put it all together and get one of the biggest wins in Â鶹ÊÓƵ soccer history."

Â鶹ÊÓƵ's record on the season is now 9-7. With a win on Friday at Berry College, not only would the Bulldogs capture their first ever conference championship, but would earn a spot in the NAIA Region XI Tounament for the first time.
