JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/30/2011 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University women’s basketball team has signed . Coney will join Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this semester but will not play until February of 2012, the start of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s second semester.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ head coach Mark Campbell says, “We have been talking to Christina for a year since she finished at Forrest Park. After sitting out a year, she has decided to finish her degree at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. She fits into our school’s mission and has a chance to be one of the best players we have had in recent years. I am really excited about Christina being a Lady Bulldog."
Coney, a 5-foot-11 guard, comes to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ from Forrest Park (Mo.) Community College. She was named NJCAA All-American and led the nation in scoring at 26 points per game. Coney also averaged 12 rebounds per game and made 44 three pointers. She also shot 50 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free throw line.
