JACKSON, Tenn. - 7/8/2011 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University’s Doug Joyce was named an All-Star in the Prospect League. Joyce, who will be a senior this coming season for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ baseball team, plays for the summer league team.
Joyce, a 6-foot-4 catcher from Stanwood, Wash., leads his Nashville team most of the offensive categories this summer. Joyce is hitting .395 with 47 hits, 13 doubles, five home runs and 30 RBI, all team highs.
At Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ last season as a junior, Joyce hit .314 with five home runs and 31 RBI as he helped Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to TranSouth Tournament Title and a third straight trip to the NAIA National Championships Opening Round. Joyce was named first team all-conference and was a TranSouth Scholar Athlete. He was also named to the TranSouth Gold Glove team. Joyce threw out 20 runners attempting to steal at a 46 percent clip. He committed just three errors in 324 chances behind the plate for a .991 fielding percentage.
