NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 6/6/2011 - Mark Campbell, the head coach of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University women’s basketball team, has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Co-Coach of the Year. Campbell shares the 2010-11 honor with fellow west Tennessee coach Kevin McMillian of the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Campbell and McMillan were named the TSWA Co-Coach of the Year in a vote of association members.
For Campbell, this marks the third straight season and fourth time overall (2005, 2009, 2010, 2011) to receive this award.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ reached its third straight NAIA national title game where it lost to Azusa Pacific (Calif.) 65-59. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was the two-time national champions entering the season. Campbell has been to seven straight NAIA semifinals, with four national titles and one runner-up finish. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ captured the 2011 TranSouth Conference regular season and tournament titles.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished the season 35-2 overall and 15-1 in the TranSouth. In his 12 seasons at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Campbell has directed his team to four national titles and 399 wins career wins (399-46, .897).
