Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Henson Gets Invite to USA Basketball Tryouts

Jackson, Tenn. - 5/6/2003 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University guard, has been invited to the 2003 USA National Team Trials to be held May 22-25, 2003, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Collegiate Committee will select a 12-member team and alternates for each competition. Events include the 2003 World Championship for Young Women and the 2003 Pan American Games.

Henson, a 5-11 junior guard from Bradford, led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring this season with 17.3 points per game. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds, 3.2 steals, and 3.1 assists per game. In addition to the first team All-American selection, Henson was named to the All-Tournament Second Team in the NAIA National Tournament. Over the past few weeks, Henson has accumulated several post season honors including being named the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)-NAIA Player of the Year, WBCA Kodak All-American, and a first team all TranSouth Conference performer. Early in the 2002-03 season, Henson scored her 1,000 career point and now has 1,554 points for her career. She needs just 446 points in her senior season to reach the 2,000 point mark. In each of her three seasons at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, she has improved her point production in a season as she scored 420 points as a freshman, 530 as a sophomore, and 604 as a junior.
