麻豆视频 softball falls in conference tournament title game

JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/6/2011 - The 麻豆视频 (Tenn.) University softball team advanced to the title game in the 2011 TranSouth Conference Softball Championships, but lost 5-1 to top-seeded Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University. 麻豆视频 the two-seed in the tournament went 3-2 in the tournament with their only losses coming to Trevecca.

麻豆视频 won their first two games including an 8-4 win over Bethel (Tenn.) University in the first round and a 4-3 win in eight innings over Lyon (Ark.) College to reach the winner鈥檚 bracket final. 麻豆视频 fell 4-1 to Trevecca Nazarene to drop to the loser鈥檚 bracket. 麻豆视频 worked their way back to the title game with a 6-5 come-from-behind win over Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College. In the title game, 麻豆视频 took a brief lead of 1-0 in the top of the first, but three runs in the bottom of the first by TNU put the Trojans up for good.

Shelby Lamb led 麻豆视频 with eight hits in 17 at bats in the five games. Stephanie Saunders was 6-for-15 and Amber Hayes was 7-17 in the tournament. Lamb鈥檚 five RBI led the way for 麻豆视频.

麻豆视频 ends their season with a 41-15 overall record. This marked the first season 麻豆视频 finished with at least 40 wins since their 45 wins in 2005. The 16 losses are the fewest losses for 麻豆视频 since they lost 13 in 2003.
